Antique Oil Painting on Leather Depicting a Pheasant in Lush Natural Environment
‘The Phasianus Colchicus, look there it is! A little to the left from that tree, straight underneath the flower branch…’
This wonderful vista is a lovely look at nature due to the use of color and especially the relief in the leather bottom. The possible Spanish or German origin can be detected by the use of materials: oil paint on leather, the huge oak wood panels to which the whole has been mounted and the specific nails of the hanging system. One of the nails was hit too deeply at a certain point, causing a small hole in the leather. The original wooden frame is cut in a very refined manner.
