Large 1930s Oil Painting of Moroccan Seller of Kelims and Jewels by Hein Froonen
Beautiful oil painting made by the Dutch master Hendricus Albertus Gerardus Froonen, better known to the world as Hein Froonen (1878-1958).
This work was made in 1932 and depicts a Moroccan salesman of kelims and jewellery. The warm contrasting colors add vivacity and depth to this peaceful image. The work is signed above on the left hand side and dated.
On the lower right hand side you may notice two small paint defaults that may easily be restored.
After his education in Amsterdam Froonen lives and works in Belgium for a period.
After returning to the Netherlands he is being supported by master Jan Toorop. In 1939 the world famous Rijksmuseum boasts one of Froonen’s paintings during the exhibition ‘ Kunst van heden ‘ (Art of today).
