Modernist Chair Made of Uncolored Lacquered Wood after Gerrit Rietveld's Design

Modernist Chair Made of Uncolored Lacquered Wood after Gerrit Rietveld’s Design

Wonderful hand made edition of the famous Rietveld chair from the estate of Dutch painter Ger Dekker (1943-2020).
Recently, his work was discovered in Egmond-Binnen, The Netherlands. A true find according to many. His impressive works have a highly personal color palette.

Ger Dekker was closely associated with Gerrit Rietveld. Not only did he teach at the famous Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, he was also a great admirer of the master, as evidenced by the large amount of original furniture by Gerrit Rietveld that stood in his interior.

On the back of the chair is written in Dutch, translated in English:
For Ger and Annelie
very precious to me 21 years together?
Wow! 12-7-85 Erik B.

The inheritors of the estate suspect Erik B. was a dear friend of the Dekker couple who made this elegant version of the iconic Rietveld chair by hand.
