Set of Eleven 18th Century Dutch Wine Glasses “Roemers” Yellow / Green Feet
Rare set of eleven yellow / green wine glasses. They have hollow stems and are decorated with raspberry prunts. The glasses sit on a trailed conical foot. Manufactured in The Netherlands at the end of the 18th or the beginning of the 19th century.
This type of glasses is called “Roemer” after the old Dutch verb for toasting or celebrating. Roemers can be seen on quite a lot of still life paintings made by Dutch masters of the 17th century. The prunts were applied to get a better grip with greasy fingers.
