Wall sculpture with optical art in plexiglass created by César Bailleux
Marvellous piece of art made by Dutch artist César Bailleux called Groei Reliëf, meaning Growth Relief. The name seems to be a reference to the Dutch phenomenon ‘groeibriljant’ (growing diamond): a young girl gets a small diamond in her ring for her birthday. Some time later she may trade this in for a bigger one. This may repeat itself later on, hence the term ‘growing diamond.’ For those who pay great attention two cobalt blue fingers are hidden in this cobalt blue piece (made of plaster on wood). The piece is set in a big plexiglass box to be wall mounted. On the back is written: “Groei” Relief Bailleux 1982.
